Ways to Get Involved

Resident Involvement leads to better decision-making, improved services and increased customer satisfaction. We have many ways for you to get involved, depending on your interests and how much time you can spare.
Teign Housing offers support and training for residents who get involved with us, and we will work closely with residents to identify any training needs they may have.

Residents’ Forum
The Residents’ Forum works in partnership with Teign Housing to help shape and improve services – it is the formal consultative group for all services relating to tenants. Members formally meet with staff to listen, discuss, give feedback and make recommendations for many areas of the business.
They meet every 6/7 weeks on a Thursday evening. Meetings are held either in person and/or on Microsoft Teams. When meeting in person, transport is available, or travel expenses are paid.

Customer Experience Committee
Formed in September 2024, Teign Housings’ Customer Experience Committee helps provide cohesion between the Residents’ Forum, Scrutiny panel, informal engagement and the Board. Working together to uphold consumer standards and improve customer experience.
The group meet quarterly either in person and/or on Microsoft Teams. When meeting in person, transport is available, or travel expenses are paid.

Scrutiny Panel
The Scrutiny Panel provides a resident-led, independent, customer-focused, advisory and consultative role to Teign Housing. The Panel will, where necessary, challenge policy and practice as a ‘critical friend’ through carrying out service review research projects. The report and recommendations they make following a review are presented to the Executive Management Team and the Board.
Teign Housing is committed to working in partnership with the Scrutiny Panel to help improve services and satisfaction. Carrying out service reviews plays an important role in ensuring that services are delivered to a high standard for residents.
The Scrutiny Panel members meet regularly whilst carrying out service reviews. Meetings are held either in person and/or on Microsoft Teams. When meeting in person, transport is available, or travel expenses are paid.

Contact Matthew Rushton, Resident Involvement Manager, on 01626 322748 or email: getinvolved@teignhousing.co.uk.
You will initially be invited to chat with Matthew to learn more about the group(s) you are interested in joining. Following a successful chat, you will be invited to observe a meeting to see how it runs. Once you have confirmed that you would like to join, you will be asked to complete a quick application form, and an induction meeting will be held jointly with the Chair of the group you are joining. Your membership will start from the next meeting of that group.
All groups have a maximum number of members, so if it is full, you will be informed, and your details will be kept for when there is a vacancy.
Being an Involved Resident and attending meetings is not the place to raise personal issues you might have with your home or neighbours – members bring their overall experiences of living in a Teign Housing home and community.
