The Building Safety Act 2022 requires us to have a Resident Engagement Strategy for all buildings over 18 metres high. The strategy outlines our approach to fire and building safety at Douglas House, how we will communicate with tenants and leaseholders and how you can work with us when making future decisions.

What to do if there is a fire

Douglas House has a “Simultaneous Evacuation Policy” for all parts of the building. This means that if you hear the fire alarm, you should leave the building immediately and proceed to the fire assembly point, which is located in the lower Douglas House car park, and only return when you are told that it is safe to do so by the Fire Service. You can read more about what to do in the event of a fire. It’s important that this information is shared with all members of your household so you know what to do should the fire alarms sound.

Fire Doors – your first line of defence

Fire doors play a critical role in protecting lives by stopping the spread of smoke and fire. Please help us maintain their effectiveness by:

  • Keeping fire doors closed and never propping them open.
  • Reporting any damaged fire doors or missing seals to us immediately.
